Nature and culture between conservation paradigms. An analysis on the creation of a Water and Natural Reserve in Sierras Chicas, Córdoba

In this paper we analyze the communal resolution which creates a Water and Natural Reserve in a town in Sierras Chicas, province of Córdoba, Argentina. Our objective is to reflect on the regulations, taking into account the conservation models behind them and how “nature” and “human-cultural” dimensions are related and in strain. The importance of analyzing this document lies in the state's strength to re-produce meanings as reserve, watershed, forest, environment, among others; and on how human practices are intertwined. We explain how different territorial logics and conservation paradigms overlap and contradict each other, which lead to ideas about the nature and culture relations.Downloads
