Research on lithium in Argentina has provided information on almost all its aspects. However, the cultural character of lithium and its ideological sphere has not been studied. We analyze the elements related to the wide world of lithium, from the meaning expressed by the image of the salt flat and its pompous names ("white gold", "oil of the 21st century", "mineral of the future", "Lithium Triangle" , “Saudi Arabia of Lithium”); the social conception of the electric car, the fantasies of the elite that dominates its commercialization, and the elements around the salt flat and that have not been investigated. The central hypothesis underlying this work is that the image of lithium represents, in a privileged way, the ideology of an elite that supports the discourse of "green capitalism", which is falsely sustainable, legitimizing an exclusive world, for few, and imagining an escape to Mars when our own Earth is no longer habitable.Downloads
