The restructuring of space and the financialization of infrastructure in the advancement of commodities

The fires in the Amazon forest highlight the advance of neo-extractivism in Brazil, the country seems to repeat the Commodities Consensus that crosses all of Latin America. The deindustrialization underway since the 1980s, combined with the expansion of extractive, mineral and agricultural activities, boosted the reprimarization of the Brazilian economy, which has since led to a restructuring of the national space. In this work, I dedicate myself to analyzing the forms of provision of logistics infrastructure within the context of privatization, financialization, and denationalization of the sector. My goal is to deepen the understanding of ongoing socio-spatial transformations, focusing on the central-west region of the country. This analysis will be based on the concessions of BR-163 and the Ferrogrão railway project (EC-170).Downloads
