Contributions to the characterization of the process of inquilinización of the population in medium-sized cities in the interior of Buenos Aires

This article contributes to characterizing and understanding access to habitat through rental housing in current capitalism. In the 21st century, we have seen how the problem of access to habitat has worsened as a result of the financial valuation of housing promoted by real estate capital. In this sense, urban conflicts increased in large cities, but also in medium-sized cities in the hinterland region of Buenos Aires. With the aim of contributing to building data that allows us to think about the tenancy process in the hinterland of Buenos Aires and its link with conflicts over access to urban habitat, we are dedicated to studying the situation in three medium-sized cities in the central region of the province. (Azul, Olavarría and Tandil). In the investigation, various documentary sources were consulted and the methodological approach articulated different techniques for the production and analysis of information. Among the results, we present data that allow us to deepen the characterization of the tenancy process of the Buenos Aires population, accounting for its historical development based on census information from party conglomerates and the cities studied for the years 2001, 2010 and 2022. In addition, the dynamism of the real estate market in the region was verified, presenting data on rental housing prices, as well as some of the problems linked to access to housing for tenant households. Finally, we also present exploratory data on the phenomenon of temporary rental in medium-sized cities in the hinterland of Buenos Aires.Downloads
