The paper examines the way in which mexican law regulates the proximity between
population and hazardous facilities. The aim is to analyze on the one hand, the
genealogy of the urban regulations to identify the place occupied by the hazardous
facilities and, on the other hand, to examine the place of urbanization in hazardous
facilities regulations. This review shall allow to posit some questions about how the
risk facilities location affects social inequalities in large cities.
