La relación paisaje-desastres ha sido poco estudiada, particularmente en espacios urbanos. El paisaje es, por un lado, planteado como una representación de formas y procesos que explican la diversidad de relaciones sociales y la estructura física presente en un espacio y tiempo determinado. Por otro lado, el desastre se constituye en una forma de paisaje debido a que manifiesta condiciones de riesgo y vulnerabilidad que subyacen a la vida cotidiana; así como la manera en que los individuos se apropian del espacio, la manera en que se relacionan entre sí y el tipo de prácticas que reproducen en el. En resumen, el desastre es un productor de nuevos paisajes urbanos.
