Prensa étnica irlandesa y catalana en Buenos Aires durante la década de 1870

Analizaremos el contenido de los primeros números de los semanarios The Southern Cross y L’Aureneta, iniciales representantes de la prensa étnica irlandesa y catalana de Buenos Aires, respectivamente, durante la década de 1870. Descubriremos los objetivos, la temática y el discurso que propusieron para elaborar estrategias de cohesión y de difusión de una cosmovisión nacional distintiva. Partiendo de una perspectiva cultural, nos acercaremos a las convicciones inaugurales de sus editores y al modo en que las plasmaron para tomar un primer contacto con sus lectores. Asimismo, analizaremos cómo ambos colectivos respondieron a las necesidades que les generaba la experiencia migratoria usando lógicas internas específicas.

Abstract:
Will examine the content of the early issues of the journals The Southern Cross and L'Aureneta, the first exponents of the Irish and Catalan ethnic press in Buenos Aires, during the 1870s. Will discover the purpose, the topics and the discourse they developed in order to elaborate cohesion strategies and the spreading of a specific national worldview. Based on a cultural perspective, we will approach the publishers' initial convictions and the way in which they shaped them, in order to make a first contact with their readers. We will also analyse how both collectives responded, based on specific internal logics, to the requirements generated by the migratory experience.
