From Musicophilia to Collectionism. About Listening Habits of the Old-New Technologies

Authors

Abstract

The digital revolution has transformed the practice of consumption as well as the ways of musical appreciation by creating daily habits. However, consumption habits and aesthetics relations of analogical technology remain. Could we consider this new practice as a claim for the return to physical materiality? The desire to directly touch the material object, palpable, collectible – the long play has come back with the advent of the vinyl culture (Bartmanski). We analyze some ways of interaction of the new-old media and old-new media: reception conditions in a changing soundscape (Schafer). To do so concepts such as memory/ oblivion on their semiotic meanings (Lotman; Zumthor), semiophere (Lotman), mediation (Hennion) will be applied.
