Costantini in film: the adaptation of The Long Night of Francisco Sanctis

This article proposes a comparative study of The Long Night of Francisco Sanctis, novel published in 1984 by Argentine writer Humberto Costantini, and its filmic adaptation, directed by Francisco Márquez and Andrea Testa in 2016. We analyze the procedures through which the film narrates the internal conflict key to the novel, the construction of the protagonist as an anti-hero, and the configuration of the narrative space and time. We discuss the political nature of both texts, based on an allegorical functioning that relates to different aesthetic conceptions in each case.
