Dossier Presentation: "The stylistic in the individual"

Abstract

Manifestations of individuality, in strict sense, are inevitable in mediatizations since the incorporation of technical indexical devices: those that capture traits of the referent and present them in reception instances. Each individual body and individual voice are better presentations of individuality than the first and last name of each person, with its inevitable risk of homonymy and repetition.

A curious phenomenon is that the differentiating force of the indexical mediations begins to be extensively used at the moment the technical devices of digitalization question the indexical automatism of photography and that of the mediatizations of the sound. More and more, the individual enjoys showing its body and its voice to the consideration of more or less extensive audiences but that, in general, exceed their primary relations group.
