Recovering the Body: Notes for an Analytical Work in Mediatizations

Abstract

In the context of crisis due to frequent changes in mediatizations, con­text marked by the emergence of innovative technologies, mutation of lan­guages and transformation of practices, there is a need for ref lection and reworking of guidelines to analyze these mediatization processes. In this work it is proposed to keep track of what happens with the intervention of the body in relation to technologies, discourse and practices, both for pro­duction and for recognition in significant exchanges. Two hypotheses are proposed: that intercorporality is a scale in addition to the other two (space and time) recognized by Verón for his theory of mediatization, and that the evolution of mediatization is oriented to recover dimensions of corporality. To test these hypotheses, guidelines of the theory of mediation and discur­siveness of Verón are followed, and then problems are suggested in which corporality takes part in mediatizations, as fertile ground to warn of its implications: individuation phenomena and of personalization in contrast to those of generalization and collectiveization, public rhythm, media pre­sence indicators, mobility in transit through the city, the social sense of the mediated body action in contrast to the groups and especially with the emulators of individuals (bots), and the incorporation of tactile interfaces. Finally, some knowledge gaps on these aspects are also indicated.
