Abstract

The effects and mechanisms of experimental photography are derived from the hybridization of the digital image, extending the limits of its representation with plastic techniques. The articulation –digital and plastic– of the photographic image represents the indexical and symbolic element of the public space as exposed by Gerardo Suter. It is presented as a visual product that semantizes reality through photographic shots of Mexico City’s surface, which expands expressively in the immersive exhibition. The experimental proposal is reinforced by the repeated over the centuries imaginary about the air’s transparency in the Valley of Mexico in opposition to its present state of pollution. Thus, the processes of mediatization in visual art extend to diverse interpretations according to the contextual time and intention of the author and the aesthetic reception of the spectator.
