This research aims to analyze the processes of meaning that arise in the interaction with a mobile robot controlled with an Kinect device, in the light of the Theory of Conceptual Integration proposed by Fauconnier & Turner, which seeks to understand how new ideas are constructed from recognition and integration of pre-existing elements. This theory is used in the field of semiotics and it could project its operation to the educational context. This is a qualitative work and it involved members of an educational institution of Bogota city. During several sessions, they solved challenges requiring mastery of a technology resource. These experiences were documented through videos and direct interviews that were used for further analysis. The findings establish that in the process of signification generated by interacting with a new object, it is required previous experience with objects established and defined by a culture.
