Abstract

The “flashmob” is the result of the immediate appropriation of space by organized groups, literally means ‘flash mob’. A collective action in a public place is given thanks to the social networks; where the large group of people involved disperses at the end immediately. The logic of its meaning is to create a spectacular view, from the appropriation of space as a street show. The notion of viewer-street event space explains and shows the vision of the viewer as a spectator model (PAVIS 1996 [2011]). The concept of model reader comes from Umberto ECO (1979 [1999]) with which it is possible to understand the strategy to build logic operations that give life to a show. The “spectacular view” shows the use of space and time, but is an important starting point for the semiotic analysis of complex phenomena present in the new forms of appropriation of traditional public spaces: squares, parks, shopping malls, airports, etc. For the analysis has been chosen the most important Street demonstrations at the time. They are capable of displaying a semiotic nature in order to explain their functioning.
