The fatality of the street

Abstract

In this work, two entities are linked. On one hand, the Street, entity connected from the beginning to groups of stable population; such a condition requires stereotyped itineraries, which gives place to a particular understanding of Space: living in the city entails certain patterns to walk about it. On the other hand, the Contemporary Technologies that contribute to the construction (and knowledge) of city itineraries: Street View and GPS; such instruments are molded according to the old patterns and, at the same time, alter them. Apparently, these alterations become intangible to discern thanks to a division that allows the arrangement, in its diversity, of the misfortune of street behaviors: the intimate, the private and the public.
