Summary
The Bicentennial Universities in Argentina, created between 2009 and 2015, were conceived with the aim of including sectors of the population that had historically been excluded from access to higher education, within the broader framework of democratizing the university system. These institutions reconfigured the relationship between the university and the territory, and in this context, the need emerged to rethink the particularities of university teaching work, which is closely shaped by institutional conditions.
This scenario invites an analysis of academic programs that incorporate teacher training as a necessity, a pedagogical choice, and also as an enabling requirement for certain practices. Thus, this article aims—through inquiries, conceptual reflections, and documentary analysis—to show how university teaching work, beyond individual trajectories, must be understood in a situated and collective manner. This perspective allows us to recognize its historically heterogeneous nature, marked by diverse paths and bifurcations that give rise to the characteristic plurality of academic work.
The structure of the article is organized in two parts. First, it addresses the main debates surrounding university teaching and the modalities of teacher training. Second, it analyzes the case of the Medicine degree program at the National University of José C. Paz (UNPAZ), understood as an innovative curricular experience. This case study makes it possible to highlight the centrality of institutional conditions in universities, showing the significance of teaching work in the everyday construction of university life.
Key words: Teaching Work; University; Training Processes.
