Cuadernos de Marte

Este artículo analiza la implicación de académicos de prestigiosas universidades norteamericanas en la lucha contra el comunismo a escala global. A partir de tres casos significativos describe el pasaje de la comunidad universitaria a la actuación en agencias estratégicas de la Guerra Fría. Los protagonistas escogidos fueron George Kennan, Richard Bissell y Walter Rostow. Sus políticas se plasmaron en la estrategia de los Estados Unidos en las dos décadas posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial, incidiendo en episodios fundamentales de la Guerra Fría. La observación enfoca, prioritariamente, los proyectos de estos intelectuales frente a fenómenos de naturaleza bélica o que expresaron las pulsiones expansionistas de los gobiernos norteamericanos, a los que sirvieron con una lealtad no exenta de dogmatismo.
