¿Una domesticación de la teoría crítica? Axel Honneth, el paradigma del reconocimiento y la actualidad de una tradición de pensamiento

Resumen

En el presente trabajo examino la hipótesis de la domesticación de la teoría crítica de la sociedad a través de un análisis reconstructivo de la obra de Axel Honneth y los debates suscitados en años recientes en torno al enfoque recognoscitivo. Procedo en tres pasos: en primer lugar, delineo los contornos generales de la empresa de Honneth, concediendo atención en igual medida a Crítica del poder, La lucha por el reconocimiento y El derecho de la libertad (1); hecho esto, analizo la acogida encontrada por la teoría crítica honnethiana y el cambio de paradigma por el autor propuesto, relevando algunas de las discusiones generadas como así también las reconsideraciones por él mismo efectuadas (2); luego de haber llevado a cabo ambas operaciones, doy el último paso de mi argumentación y vuelvo sobre la hipótesis de la domesticación, intentando esclarecer cuál es la actualidad de la tradición de pensamiento de la que el filósofo social alemán continúa siendo uno de los principales exponentes (3).

A Domestication of Critical Theory? Axel Honneth, the Paradigm of Recognition and the Current Relevance of a Tradition of Thought

Abstract

In the present paper I examine the hypothesis of the domestication of critical theory of society by means of a reconstructive analysis of Axel Honneth’s work and the debates concerning the recognition approach that in recent years have arisen. I proceed in three steps: first, I trace the general contours of Honneth’s enterprise, dealing equally with The Critique of Power, The Struggle for Recognition and Freedom’s Right (1); having done this, I analyze the reception gotten by Honnethian critical theory and the paradigm shift proposed by the author, highlighting some of the arisen discussions as well as the reconsiderations made by him (2); after having carried out both operations, I take the last step of my argument and go back to the domestication hypothesis, trying to clarify what is the current relevance of the tradition of thought from which the German social philosopher one of the main exponents still is (3).
