¿Desembarazarse de Marx? Avatares del concepto de clases sociales.

Resumen

¿Es la teoría de Marx la expresión exclusiva de su propio tiempo histórico y no puede pretender explicar una época posterior? Son muchas las voces que pregonan el agotamiento de los “antiguos” conceptos de clase y lucha de clases -en la medida en que serían incapaces de dar cuenta de las “nuevas” y “más complejas” realidades-, y la necesidad de suplantarlos por nuevas nociones. Frente a dicho menosprecio, en este trabajo se enfatiza el carácter primordial e insustituible del análisis en términos de clases y, en consecuencia, se retoma la discusión teórica en torno a este concepto. A través de sus páginas, se examinan las diferencias entre las dos grandes perspectivas teóricas sobre las clases sociales: la teoría marxista y el amplio abanico de la sociología académica.

Get rid of Marx? Ups and downs in the concept of social class

Is Marx's theory the exclusive expression of its own historical time and therefore it cannot seek to explain a later time? Many are the voices that proclaim the exhaustion of the "old" concepts of class and class struggle – for they would be unable to take into account the "new" and “more complex" realities -, and the need to supplant them for new notions. Before this contempt, this work emphasizes the primordial and irreplaceable character of analysis in terms of classes and, in consequence, the theoretical discussion is taken up around this concept. Through these pages, the differences are examined between the two broad theoretical perspectives on social classes: the Marxist theory and the wide spectrum of academic sociology.
