El estudio actual examinó cómo ser un descendiente sobreviviente del Holocausto (HSO) y su orientación de apego podría afectar las reacciones de los hijos de mediana edad ante la pérdida de los padres. La muestra incluyó a 146 adultos de mediana edad de Israel: 61 que estaban de duelo por sus padres ancianos y 85 participantes que no estaban de duelo. Cada grupo incluía HSO y no HSO que completaron orientaciones de apego y cuestionarios de salud mental. Los hallazgos indicaron que los participantes en duelo reportaron una peor salud mental que los participantes que no estaban en duelo solo si su padre recientemente fallecido era un sobreviviente del Holocausto y tenían una puntuación relativamente alta en la ansiedad por el apego.
