Flourishing: the path to prosperity

Alejandro Ismael Vera

Abstract

Flourishing is a theory developed by Keyes (2002). Blossoming means living within an optimal range of human functioning, one that connotes goodness, generativity, growth, and resilience. This definition is based on pioneering work that measures mental health in positive terms rather than the absence of mental illness (Keyes, Shmotkin, & Ryff, 2002). The present work proposes, from the search in different databases, such as Readalyc, Latindex, Pubmed, Scielo and PsycInfo, to present a historical review and the tools that have been used to evaluate Flourishing.
