Review of the scientific literature on video game addiction and other variables studied in its relationship

Abstract


Video game addiction becomes even more relevant in the current year after the World Health Organization's notice that it will be part of addiction disorders in the eleventh edition of the International Classification of Diseases. Taking this into account, a review of the scientific literature of the last 10 years was carried out on other variables studied in relation to video game addiction. In this way, to better understand the factors that influence this disorder and its possible consequences. Some of the variables that were found studied are: personality, anxiety, depression, self, academic performance, flow, motivation, social phobia, among others.
