Fútbol, comunicación y Nación: la trayectoria del campo académico en Brasil

Resumen

The “soccer country” concept is with us since the end of the
1950s. Usually we are proud of it, because it would mean that
Brazil has the best soccer in the world and that no one loves
soccer as much as Brazilians. However, this concept is also
used in a negative way meaning that Brazil would not be a
“serious country” because everything – read it as struggle ant
corruption and attempts to apply the laws – would end up in
“pizza” or “carnival” and “soccer”. In any case, we were
surprised by the fact that soccer in the “country of soccer”
took a long time to call the attention of academia.
