Cruces Artivistas / Artivist Crossings. Experiencias interdisciplinarias en torno a la crisis socio-ambiental

Resumen

El presente artículo describe y analiza el trabajo llevado adelante por el proyecto de investigación “Artivist Crossings / Cruces Artivistas", en cuyo marco examinamos el potencial del arte y del activismo para hacer frente a la crisis socio-ambiental. La iniciativa surgió como una colaboración internacional e interdisciplinaria entre académicos y académicas de la Universidad de Leeds y de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, quienes encabezaron el proyecto junto a artistas y activistas de Argentina y del Reino Unido. La propuesta gira en torno a los modos en que las prácticas artivistas abordan la intersección entre cambio climático e inequidad social en ambos territorios, y especialmente en contextos marcados por el extractivismo y la lógica colonial. A través de un estudio situado y comparativo, el equipo busca priorizar el conocimiento generado desde las comunidades y visibilizar vías de solución a situaciones de diverso alcance socio-político. Las conclusiones preliminares subrayan la incidencia social del artivismo y de diferentes metodologías exploratorias de resistencia y empoderamiento comunitario que surgen del análisis. El proyecto logró establecer comparativas entre las problemáticas que vinculan arte, justicia social y medio ambiente, y mecanismos a través de los cuales se los enfrenta en el norte y sur global.

Artivist Crossings / Cruces Artivistas. Interdisciplinary experiences around socio-environmental crisis

Abstract

This article describes and analyses the work carried out by the research project “Artivist Crossings / Cruces Artivistas”, in which we examine the potential of art and activism to address the socio-environmental crisis. The initiative emerged as an international and interdisciplinary collaboration between academics from the University of Leeds and the University of Buenos Aires, who led the project through a partnership with artists and activists from Argentina and the United Kingdom. The proposal focuses on the ways in which artivist practices address the intersection between climate change and social inequality in both territories, especially in contexts marked by extractivism and colonial logics. Through a situated and comparative study, the team seeks to prioritise knowledge generated from communities and highlight solutions to situations of varying socio-political extent. Preliminary conclusions emphasise the social impact of artivism and different exploratory methodologies of resistance and community empowerment that emerge from the analysis. The project managed to compare different issues linking art, social justice and the environment, and the methods used to tackle them in the Global North and South.
