El presente artículo pretende tratar la crítica de Carl Schmitt al carácter antipolítico del liberalismo desde la relación entre individualismo y religión de lo privado. Así, si la tesis weberiana sobre el particular vínculo entre protestantismo y capitalismo influye en Schmitt, lo cierto es que la adscripción de éste al catolicismo y a la perspectiva teológico-política lo lleva a extraer todas las consecuencias posibles con el fin de acentuar la impronta individualista del protestantismo precursor del liberalismo burgués. Este proceso concluye en el pathos antipolítico del liberalismo que resulta hostil al Estado desde las esferas de la moral y la economía, o bien, desde la estética como aparece en el romanticismo. Para Schmitt estos procesos concluyen en el hecho inevitable de la Entseelung que vacía de sentido a la política y consolida la era de la técnica. De este modo, la mutua implicación entre religión de lo privado, liberalismo y capitalismo tiene por resultado el ocaso definitivo del Estado.

AbstractThis article seeks to Carl Schmitt's critique of the anti-political character of liberalism from the relationship between individualism and religion of the private. Thus, if the Weberian thesis on the particular link between Protestantism and capitalism influences Schmitt, the truth is that the ascription of this to Catholicism and theological-political perspective leads him to draw all possible consequences in order to emphasize the individualistic stamp Protestantism precursor of bourgeois liberalism. This process results in the anti-political pathos of liberalism that is hostile to the State from the spheres of morality and the economy, or from aesthetics as it appears in romanticism. Schmitt processes to conclude the inevitable fact that the Entseelung empty of meaning to politics and consolidating the era of technology.
